Course Content


CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 2

This is the entry level course for the health and social care sector

Course Duration

You will have up to a year to complete this course and we have included a suggested number of study hours. This is usually ample time for learners, even with full-time jobs and other commitments. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for a small fee, which also extends your tutor support.

At the end of this course, successful learners will be awarded an certificate in Health and Social Care by the relevant accredited organisation.  The training courses have been designed specifically to meet the needs of learners who prefer to study from home.

SECTION 1

Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care

The aim of this unit is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity and rights in health and social care.
You cover the following areas:
 Approaches to challenge discrimination
• Influence of values, beliefs, and experiences on delivery of care
• Person-centred practice used to support individuals
• Impacts of person-centred practice on individuals
• Ethics in relation to rights and duty of care
• Equality, diversity and inclusion
• How practitioners contribute to inclusive practice
• Types of discrimination

• SECTION 2

Human Growth and Development
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of human growth and development across the lifespan.
You cover the following areas:
• Life stages of human growth and development
• Social, emotional, cognitive and physical development in life stages
• Holistic development
• Nature versus nurture in relation to growth and development
• Factors impacting growth and development
• Significant life events and their impact across each life stage
• Care needs of individuals and how they are met across life stages

SECTION 3

Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and protection of children, young people and adults in health and social care.
You’ll cover the following areas:
• What is safeguarding and protection
• Legislation, policies, procedures, and code of practice
• Types of abuse
• Signs, symptoms, indicators, and behaviours
• Actions to take if harm or abuse is suspected
• Responsibilities of practitioners in relation to whistleblowing
• How practitioners safeguard individuals and themselves
• Confidentiality in relation to safeguarding, protection and well-being

ASSESMENT

The trainer will check understanding, involvement and the ability of all students throughout the duration of the course.

CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of the course students will receive a CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 2
